Why are terracotta warriors and horses made?

YINGZHENG, the first emperor of China to unite China, brought many enemies to him and was assassinated three times in his lifetime. So he made clay soldiers （terracotta warriors）. The emperor hoped that his afterlife would be protected by a huge army as well.
